Backpack Buddies

This new ministry, Backpack Buddies, is a cooperative ministry with Second Harvest of St. Joseph, USD 452, and Nekap's Headstart program, which strives to provide backpacks filled with nutritious food to elementary school children who go home from school on weekends to an environment where they might not receive any sustenance over the weekend.

As a Christian community, our churches will be providing backpacks with hearty, nutritious food, to 125 pre-school children in Leavenworth USD 452 and 50 pre-schoolers in the Leavenworth area.  Cava Sittnick is leading our effort.  St. Paul's will be the first church delivering food to the schools we are supporting. We will be packing the food after services this Sunday & next Sunday. It costs $125 per child per year to provide food for the children we are supporting.
